To work successfully as an engineer there are a few skills that you should have so that you should work effectively.  

Problem-Solving: It is essential that you should develop problem-solving abilities so that they can solve complex puzzles that stand between you and the perfect technical device/product.  

Communication: You are required to work with the team effectively and most importantly should be able to communicate with the clients so that they can explain to the users how they would use your product or service.  

Math Skills: They should solve engineering problems and for that purpose, they sometimes require maths skills as well. The skills required include calculus, mathematics principles, or statistics.  

Creativity: One of the most important aspects of engineering is to come up with innovations so that you can create something of your own effectively. Observe what others are not doing, and try to create something from trash.
